Photography is my passion, but I got my start as a filmmaker. I was a film studies major at William & Mary and worked as a film editor for an independent production company after graduation. I loved working in the independent film world, because it gave me a chance to develop a unique perspective and a real eye for presenting life as it unfolds. But everything changed in 2009 when I volunteered to photograph the wedding of a friend. I haven’t been able to stop taking pictures since.
I think my photography combines the technical proficiency and artistic sensibility that I cultivated as a film editor with the patience, intuition, and joy of someone who loves working with people and a camera. There’s a time and a place for traditional posed portraits, but my primary goal is to capture those wonderful candid moments. Stylistically, I strive to present all of my clients with something artistic, emotional, and elegant. In every photo shoot, the goal is for clients to feel comfortable to show their true selves and take the very best photographs. Expect a lot of laughter in a session with me! I want all of my clients to love having their picture taken by me.
Other things you might want to know about me? I met the love of my life in College and we will celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary in December 2013! We have two rabbits, Sally and Linus. In my free time, I’m usually curled up – reading a book, watching a movie, or pinning pins to Pinterest – with a rabbit on my lap and a cup of coffee in my hand. I grew up in Virginia Beach and will take any excuse to be on the beach or near the water! My favorite season is Summer because it’s Wedding Season, Beach Season and because I, like Sally from When Harry Met Sally, get cold when it’s 70 degrees outside. I listen to the Otis Redding Pandora station when I edit photos, because I listen to the Otis Redding Pandora station every chance I get.
So whether you are updating your family portrait or celebrating your wedding day, I would love to be there to capture the moment!
